-Long before concrete, Romans used volcanic stone.
-the Romans invented the true arch.
-A true arch is composed of wedge shaped blocks called voussoirs, with a key stone in the center holding them in place.
-Romans built aqueducts throughout the city. this allowed bath houses to be popular throughout the city.
-Built amphitheaters which were elliptical, enclosed spaces such as the Colosseum (used for gladiatorial combat and battles between men and animals).
